Volunteering
Volunteering is a big part of being a parent at Salmon Bay School.
Volunteer Opportunities
Parents, Teachers, Staff, and Students to Test This New Website
We’re building a brand new website for Salmon Bay School. It’s still a bit early but in January we’re going to need help testing to make sure the links work, the pictures line up, the menus are easy to navigate, and the text makes sense.
We also need to make sure the contact forms work which means…
If you’d like to volunteer to help test the website please use this link to our contact form and let us know you’re available.
Thanks.
We Need Photos of the Salmon Bay School Building For the New Website
If you’ve got pictures of the Salmon Bay School building that you’re particularly proud of and that you’d be willing to share we’d like to look at them.
They can be new ones or old even very old. Photos of the school during or after the holiday snowstorms would be particularly welcome. At this point we’re requesting pictures of just the building without (identifiable) people. (Later we’ll want photos with people too.)
If you’ve got them, and you’re willing to give us permission to put them online please contact the website committee and let us know.
Thanks!
Office Help for Last Four WEP Days
Jessica is looking for a parent volunteer to help work in the office for our last 4 WEP days. (This would be a shared job, so probably not for all 4 WEP days). This job is from 4:15 – approx. 7:15. The job includes putting cones in the bus zone to save that parking area for the buses, and making sure the doors are unlocked and the lights are on. The rest of the time you are in the office. You are just there to answer the phone – parents will sometimes call asking when the ski buses will be arriving (be sure to bring a book). It is a great way to volunteer, and if you have a skier or snowboarder to pick up, even better. If you are interested, please let her know.
Cafeteria/Auditorium Organizing
Help to clean up the cafeteria/auditorium area. Tuck away the lost and found, take old papers off of the wall, help display new student work on the walls, etc. Probably 1 -2 hours on Monday, Feb 23rd, 9am – ?
Email or call Megan if you can help. (252-1720 or mcratcliffe@seattleschools.org.)
Help Display Student Artwork in Front Hallways
Help display student art work in the display cases in the front hallways. This could be done both tomorrow, Fri 2/13 as well as Monday 2/23, 9am – ?
Email or call Megan if you can help. (252-1720 or mcratcliffe@seattleschools.org.)
Help Lead New-Student Tours
Help lead a tour on any of the dates that the tours are on; February 24th, March 5th or March 12th. The time commitment is a little more than an hour and all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and parent experience from your years here at Salmon Bay.
Email or call Megan if you can help. (252-1720 or mcratcliffe@seattleschools.org.)
Alex and Middle School teachers Need Help Cataloging and Organizing Books
First, Alex and the Middle School teachers are looking for some help cataloging and organizing the books for the Readers and Writers Workshop Curriculum. This can be done at any time during the day. Alex will give you specific details and direction.
FOSB Middle School Treasurer
We are in need of a Middle School Treasurer! We have a hired bookkeeper for the school, so this is really just tracking the Middle School budget, not the whole school finances! Meetings are just once a month. If you are good with money and a budget – We Need You!
Diversity Committee Chair
This committee will need to be formed and organized. It could work very well with the PIE (Parent Information Exchange) committee. If you are interested in chairing this committee or just being a committee member, let Jessica know!
