Winter Enrichment Program (WEP)

The Winter Enrichment Program was created with goals of connecting every student to learning activities that interest him/her, thus individualizing the school experience, and providing in-depth topical areas of study. The Winter Enrichment Program has been designed as a supplement to our curriculum. It is our hope that these programs will provide students with opportunities to develop skills, increase their self-esteem, and experience learning beyond the classroom walls.

Salmon Bay School
2010 Winter Enrichment Program

Our WEP consists of six Fridays starting Friday January 8th and going every Friday through February 12th, 2010 (except Friday, January 29th, the day between semesters day; we will go on Thursday, January 28th instead). Every student will be encouraged to choose one of the exciting and challenging all-day activities that we are offering. The skiing and snowboarding program takes place at Snoqualmie Central Ski Area on Snoqualmie Pass; students will be transported by Journeyline charter buses. Skiing and snowboarding students leave school about 9:30 AM and return either to a convenient south end drop-off or to Salmon Bay School at about 7:30 PM. The other activities are done by the end of the regular school day and students can ride the school buses home.
.
This year we plan on offering several new activities at school as well as some of the most popular activities from last year. Options will include Mural Painting with Glyde, Touring Seattle with Janet, Playing with Water Colors and Pastels with Ticely, Team Sports with Anthony and Keith, Jewelry Making and Bead Design with Melanie and Victoria, Ice Skating at Highland Ice Arena with Hien, Movie Making with Jeff, and Hiking Adventures with Tim Lundquist.

Every student at Salmon Bay is encouraged to participate in the WEP activity of his or her choice regardless of the costs involved; scholarships are available for families that need help paying for their student’s activity. Scholarship forms will be available in the Main Office when the WEP signups start November 6th.

If you plan to choose to participate in our skiing and snowboarding program, you may want to start planning now how you are going to work it into your family budget. This year, families can pay for the program using a credit card. Another option is you may pay for your student’s skiing/snowboarding program with our “EZ Payment Plan” (a down payment when you sign your student up, and whatever you can afford each month as long as it is paid off by the end of the season, March 1st, 2010
