The Source Explained

The Source is a website that Seattle School District has created to help parents and students track assignments, grades, and other important information. The Source website stores the information securely on the main Seattle Public Schools computers. The information is not stored on this website or at Salmon Bay School.

When that information is entered at the school level, the information is updated to The Source. We upload this information as often as hourly and therefore provide near real-time access to the student data we receive from the schools. In the Seattle School District more information is kept about middle-school students than elementary students on The Source.

Our team will not automatically be sending home mid-quarter progress reports for each class as the information can be found on The Source. Should you need a paper copy of a mid-quarter progress report, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers, as they will provide one.

Links to more information about The Source can be found at the Seattle Schools website.

Instruction for Logging on to The Source:

3. Go through the “Register for the Source” procedure. You will need your student’s Seattle Public School Student number to complete the login.
