Middle School Out of School Time Program (OST)

HOMEWORK CLUB: MS Students, if you would like some help with school work and organization, a place to get work finished before you go home, and also an opportunity to meet new friends, join us for homework club! Staff members will help you navigate successfully through your classes and help with research, writing, and math. Location: Rm. 309 (Mon,) or 209 (Thurs.) Instructors: Janet Bogle, Rm. 309 Mon., Joelle, Rm. 209 Thurs. Day: M and Th Dates: 1/5- 5/24 Time: Until 4:30. NOTE: Students and parents will be asked to sign a Homework Club contract.

SPRING PLAY:- This year the Spring play, directed by Glyde Hart King, will be “The Matchmaker”, by Thornton Wilder. Auditions after school (2:45-4:30pm) Feb 13/14 in Room 306.
Rehearsals: Mon, T. and Th. Feb 27-May 3. 2:45- 4:30pm. (Not all players will need to be present at all rehearsals!)
Performances: Th. and Fri. May 3, 4 @ 7pm, Sat, May 5 @ 2pm
OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREW AS WELL AS CAST. Come one come all!

8TH GRADE PROJECT SUPPORT CLASS: Classes will start with a mini lesson needed for the current task. The rest of the time will be used for working on projects and/or conferencing with adult mentors. Computers will be available and help with arranging interviews and making other contacts will also be available. Dates: Jan.3- May 24. Location: Library, Instructors: Melanie Shelton and Janet Bogle Day: T. and Th. Time: until 4:30pm.

PANTHER ALL-STARS: Students will have an opportunity to learn how to mentor and tutor younger students and also how to become peer-mediators. Helping with campus and community beautification and the coordinating of school events that promote healthy and substance-free living will be encouraged. Location: Rm: 209 Instructors: Anthony Malaki and Dana Irwin Day: Mon.
Dates: Jan. 9- May 21. Time: until 4:30.

GROW CLUB: The Grow program has three parts. The first is made up of in-school activities and lessons about horticulture mixed with field trips to the UW Farm or neighborhood farms and gardens. Throughout the students will be asked to think about a project that they would like to create at their school and will receive more guidance and instruction on how best to pursue the project. The second will be in March and April where students will be designing their dream project and writing a grant asking for funds for building supplies for their project and it will include art projects if desired. The third part begins once the weather starts warming, when students will begin work on their dream project which will be completed and ready for planting by May. Instructor: Rachel Nagorsky from UW Arboretum. Day: Mon. Dates: Jan. 9- May 21. Time: until 4:30.

SPRING ULTIMATE FRISBEE : Another chance to play Ultimate Frisbee with matches against other club teams. Location: Loyal Heights playfield and Salmon Bay upper field Coaches: Sam Olson, Amanda K, Shira S., Days: T and TH Dates: Feb. 28-May 17 Time: until 4:30.

BOYS SOCCER - practices Mon and Thursday after school starting the week after February break. Coaches Joel Maier (V) and Katie Davis (JV).

Club Times: after school until 4:30. Activity Bus: M., T., Th. Leaves 4:40pm
