Elementary Science Fair Night is Thursday May 5th 2011

SCIENCE FAIR NIGHT – MAY 5th 2011

The Science fair is next week on Thursday, May 5th and is a great opportunity for your budding scientist to show what they know. Many terrific science experiment books are available in the library and the science fair forms are here.  The forms help us know who is presenting, what sorts of electrical needs are needed and how much space “the spacecraft made out of Jello” will require. Dana Riley Black is helping coordinating this event. Lots of kids presentations make this event a huge and enlightening success so we hope you are able to participate.

Co-ed Ultimate Frisbee-- Elementary (3rd-5th Grades)

Elementary Ultimate Frisbee @ Salmon Bay

Spring- 2011

Welcome to the Spring Ultimate Frisbee Season!

Ultimate Frisbee is a uniquely wonderful sport that relies upon the “spirit of the game” philosophy.  Sportsmanship is the most important aspect of “spirit of the game” and players have the responsibility to make and keep all play fair.  Highly competitive play is encouraged but never at the expense of mutual respect of other players.  Salmon Bay’s teams have a strong reputation for showing some of the best sportsmanship in the league.

Spring Season: The spring season runs from March 4th to May 21st (playoffs).

-There will be no practice on March 18th as there is no school.

Practices: We will practice on Fridays at Salmon Bay’s upper field. Practices will begin at 2:45 and end at 4:00. Please make sure you are here at 4:00 to pick up your child.

Games: Games are scheduled for Saturdays.  Here is the full schedule.

Teams: There are two Ultimate Frisbee teams this season and some players (girls) may be playing on both teams.

1. 3rd/4th grade team

2. 4th/5th grade team

Transportation/Attendance:  Please make sure to be here at 4:00 to pick up your child. If your child is not going to attend a practice email me or Megan so we are aware.

Paperwork: All players must have the following two forms returned to me in order to play:

1. Salmon Bay Ultimate Form (this form)

2. DiscNW Participation and Concussion Form

Fees:  $75 to FOSB

Gear Needed: White and dark shirt, athletic shorts, and cleats.  Molded soccer cleats for grass work well.  Players should also bring a water bottle to practices and games.  In cold or rainy weather, players will need  warmer athletic clothes and a hat.  Players may want to bring a Frisbee with their name on it, although we have a number of school Frisbees for them to use.

Post-Game Treat Schedule and Post-Season Party: I need help with this. If there is a parent or group of parents that can help organize one or both of these let me know. THANKS!!
