Board of Directors

Each FOSB meeting has a place for you, and all adults members of the community are a part of this important governance body.

FOSB is you – the Friends of Salmon Bay and all are welcomed.

Maybe you have an item up for discussion…there’s time in each meeting to do that. Maybe you want to volunteer but can’t during the day…this is a great way to get in the know and join in the work (and the fun!). Maybe you want to be a director, maybe you just want to know what’s going on… come and see.

Salmon Bay Fundraising

Salmon Bay School depends on the generosity of our community members to provide enriched programs. Money raised through our auction, scrip, school store, and direct giving programs supports the school and its students in many ways.

Our parent organization, Friends of Salmon Bay (FOSB), coordinates fundraising programs throughout the school year, giving community members many ways to give and to get involved.

The 2011 Auction raised $82,000, which will be used to augment the school’s budget and provide direct support for both staffing and programs.

Thank you so much!

Direct Giving

You chose Salmon Bay for a reason.  But at the time, you probably didn’t realize that many of the things you loved about Salmon Bay were, in fact, funded by the parent body.

Teachers need your support to continue their tireless work to engage our kids, encourage their love of learning, and ensure their academic excellence. This is especially true in these financially challenging times.  Creating an active learning environment takes an immense amount of time, energy and resources.  Your generous donation will directly affect your children and their education.

Our goal this year is to raise $25,000 by November 30th.   Your donation will impact each and every classroom in each and every grade. We are lucky enough to have a generous Salmon Bay family who has pledged to match the first $10,000 we raise with a $5,000 match.  So when we raise $10,000 we actually raise $15,000!  New this year, you can give a reoccurring gift (quarterly or monthly) with just one click on the Donate Now button!

Please use the button, below, to contribute via Network for Good.  And thank you for choosing Salmon Bay School.  To contribute by check or other ways please click on the direct giving tab to the right or above.

Frequently Used Links

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there supervision before or after school on school grounds?
Elementary supervision is provided on the playground for 30 minutes before first bell; supervision is not available for students dropped off before then. After school, there is no supervision unless through an official activity. Middle school students who stay for an activity must remain on campus or at the location of the activity.

Where can I park?
If you plan to park and come into the school to pick up your child, please park away from the drop-off zone south of the upper ballfield on 18th Ave. NW, which is a no-parking zone from 8-10am and 2-4 pm Monday-Friday. Additionally, please note where 19th Ave. NW is a no-parking, bus-only zone. Finally, for their safety, please do not drop-off or pick-up students on NW 65th St.

Can my child ride the bus home with a friend?
If a student wishes to visit or be visited by another student and rides the school bus, a temporary bus card (green card) should be requested from the main office.

What is the district's Transportation phone number?
That number is 252.0900. Please have your student(s) ID and route number handy.  If your student has not ridden the bus in 3 days, you may need to call the transportation office to reinstate the bus stop.

What is the recess policy?
We encourage students to go outside for fresh air whenever possible. On rainy days the choices are to play in the gym, play quiet games in the auditorium, or go outside (if it’s drizzling). In order to go outside students must have a raincoat. Some parents choose to keep one permanently in the locker for such occasions.

What if my child needs to take medication while at school?
All students requiring medications during the school day MUST have a Medication Authorization Form filled out and signed by their Health Care Provider. The form is available online here (link to SPS), or you may contact Nurse Julie or one of our office staff. Medications must be in their original container, labeled and kept in the school office.
