Principal's Note

Dear Salmon Bay Families:

Remember:  Early dismissal this Wednesday.  School finishes 2 hours early (12:35/12:40)

Teachers will be using their time this week to meet in an on-going professional learning community.  Each group has selected a focus and particular activities and professional development to support their goals.  This time, some groups will be looking at student work together, others will be reflecting on visits they have completed to observe each other’s classrooms, others will be planning a future observation with each other, others will be reflecting on some common reading.  This is valuable time for every teacher to take a breath and look collaborate with each other for more than just the few minutes that then can grab here and there during the day, and it is all focused on improving student learning and instruction.

Middle School Families:  Welcome to the first week of second semester!  Your student may have new exploratory classes to tell you about.  Their core classes may begin a new unit of study or project.  It’s also a good time to stay on top of things, get organized and get off to a good start. We appreciate all you do to help your student thrive at school, and arrive on time ready to learn.

Have a good Wednesday afternoon, and a good week as well.
