Annual Giving!

Each year in the fall and spring FOSB initiates a Direct Giving Campaign fundraiser to help bridge the gap between the budget The Seattle School District provides and the amount it takes to make each program the best it can be.  Funds raised by FOSB help support Art, Math, Music, All-School social events, Special Projects and Supplies, Drama, PE, Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Science and more.

How does FOSB raise money for these programs?  It is FOSB’s belief that a child’s job in school is to learn and grow, not to fundraise.  Rather than having your child sell chocolate or wrapping paper to raise money, FOSB has two main fundraisers each year:  the All-School Auction (March 26th this year!) and this Direct Giving Campaign.  Both these events are about the adult community of Salmon Bay School opening their hearts and wallets and giving something to support our school.

While the quantity of money we raise is important, PARTICIPATION is and always will be what makes our school strong.  Our Direct Giving goal this year is participation by 100% of Salmon Bay families, whether the donation is $5 or $500.   It may seem that one family’s donation of $5 won’t make much of an impact.  But there are approximately 450 families in our school, and historically we’ve received Direct Giving donations from fewer than thirty percent of Salmon Bay families.  If each family donates something—even a small amount—the collective effect will be significant. EVERY DONATION COUNTS!

You can mail in or drop off your donation at school, and soon you will be able to donate online via PayPal.  (We'll keep you posted)! Remember, your donation is tax-deductible!

Our Direct Giving Coordinator for 2010-2011 is Donna Mack, donnamack@comcast.net.
