Chair’s Report:
- Jane ran meeting and added detailed explanations about parent grant and how our funding fits into overall budget.
- Jane presented that Glyde is at camp and would like to do some fund raising (5K to 8K). We need to discuss this further at a later date.
- Middle School Update: brainstorming list of middle school things we value like projects, WEP, camp, social skill focus, health, integrated learning, choice around projects, biography project from past, strong sense of being known by teachers for kids during tumultuous time developmentally, …
Secretary’s Report:
- April and May minutes posted and passed.
Principal’s Report:
- Clara Scott here now as interim Principal, while Jodee on medical leave.
- Sam Olsen is displaced, not RIFFed, which means he has position in district and it is possible that he will return after all the reorganization settles.
- Middle school is fine-tuning schedule and will be working on that until school is out. They are being creative about presenting options that will work with the budget.
- Elementary talent show is tomorrow.
Volunteer’s Report:
- Megan: Lots going on! WEP funding done.
- Jessica: Lots going on!
- Both: Been discussing K-8 model, what they do, what works, what could be more efficient in light of reduced hours. Bulletin is still very needed and would like to encourage more parent communication via smaller groupings. May have parent volunteer from FOSB do monthly updates about longer term things going on outside of events etc. which are covered by volunteer coordinators in the bulletin.
Treasurer’s Report:
- Motion Passed: Next year’s budget presented and passed. Concern expressed about the budget given that we’ve dipped into reserves the past two years. Auction and recession discussed. People are both hopeful and cautious about next year.
Additional Reports:
- Katherine Ropp as Legislative Liason is reviewing information about Superintendent approval and announced there was a vote of “no confidence” from 5 schools, maybe more, who voted no confidence almost unanimously.
- Playground
update from Robin and Lance.
They presented a document updating where they are in the playground
committee. They are planning
to present project to city for matching funds. Contact Robin and Lance if you have questions.
- Good points discussed: everyone is concerned about overall budget and knowing how to position fund raising - early elementary parents may be more open to donating for playground, middle school parents may not be as open and have other issues.
- Motion Passed: Delayed parent fund raising now and instead will go for applying for grants for playground.
