Our K - 8 School!

Dear Salmon Bay Families:

 

Lot’s of actual K-8 ACTIVITY! – By that I mean, sometimes we forget the unique experience students have at Salmon Bay by being together in such a grade range under one roof.

 

If you wander the halls in the next few weeks, you’ll notice all sorts of preparations and rehearsal for The Wizard of Oz. We have elementary students rehearsing songs to be “The Munchkins” and our middle school working on tech, on learning lines, and learning music. Look for the dates on the website, during the first two weeks in May.

 

Reading Buddies are everywhere, we have middle school parents buddying up with elementary students, and elementary parents reading with middle school students, and we have middle school students, even whole classes, pairing up with elementary classes, and even some seventh graders doing their research project to write a non-fiction book for younger readers.

 

You may have heard about our safety drills at school, and often if one happens during middle school PE, we have those students shelter in place with an elementary class. Great role modeling going ---- in both directions!

 

And, it’s still my fantasy at some time to have an all-school K-8 Marimba band!
