Rainy Day Recess
When you look at the week’s weather forecast, and see 5 days of rain, you may think about your garden, or the snowfall setting up for skiing, or any number of things….. We think of RAINY DAY RECESS! Please remember to send your students with raincoats / hoods/hats/ boots….so they can go outside and get some fresh air this week! We thank you!
Student conferences are coming up next week. In classrooms I’m seeing students busily collecting samples of their work so you can see what they have been doing, and those students who will be doing student-led conferences are organizing and practicing their presentations. In addition to giving you a glimpse into the work students have been doing, the great benefit of these conferences is it gives you a way to have a deeper conversation about school with your student. It also gives you the means to continue that conversation into the future, with more specifics and knowledge. Simply put, it gives you a way out of that dead end question and answer we all struggle with as parents at the dinner table: how are things going at school? Because conferences give you things to ask about, and to continue the conversation into the rest of the year. BE SURE YOU’VE SIGNED UP FOR YOUR CONFERENCE WITH YOUR TEACHER.
Don’t forget the PANCAKE BREAKFAST AND FAIR TRADE FAIR. Your participation will support a fabulous Salmon Bay program: Bridges to Understanding, which involves students creating digital stories they share with students in schools in other countries. Also, the proceeds for the items at the FAIR all go directly to the artists and suppliers, giving you some convenient holiday shopping at the same time.
Have a good, busy, wet week!
